Iran and the U.S. ended a fresh round of indirect talks in Rome, as negotiators hope to resolve a decades-long dispute over Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

The fifth round of indirect negotiations between the United States and Iran over Tehran’s nuclear program has concluded in Rome.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi led the Iranian delegation, while U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff headed the American side.

Despite sharp differences, negotiators resumed talks in hopes of resolving a decades-long dispute over Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Tehran has warned, however, that a new agreement may not be possible due to conflicting demands from both sides.

The stakes remain high. U.S. President Donald Trump seeks to limit Iran’s ability to develop a nuclear weapon that could spark a regional arms race and pose a threat to Israel. Meanwhile, Iran aims to lift crippling sanctions on its oil-dependent economy.
