Two dead, five injured in shooting in Nice, France

A shooting in Nice, southeastern France, left two people dead and five injured on Friday, authorities said.

The Alpes-Maritimes prefecture reported on X that the incident took place in the Moulins district, with two victims seriously wounded and three sustaining minor injuries.

Law enforcement and firefighters have secured the area, and the Interior Ministry has ordered additional reinforcements to arrive on Saturday to restore order.

Mayor Christian Estrosi described the scene on X as “tense and chaotic,” adding that the gunfire was linked to a narco-criminal incursion.

The public prosecutor of Nice confirmed an investigation has been launched into organised gang-related murder and attempted murder.
