During the discussion, President Aliyev congratulated Sinirlioğlu on his recent appointment, highlighting the significance of his leadership in shaping the future direction of the OSCE.
Sinirlioğlu, in turn, expressed his gratitude for the warm congratulations and underscored the South Caucasus region's central role in the OSCE’s priorities. He also conveyed his congratulations on the significant progress made regarding the peace treaty negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Sinirlioğlu emphasized that the ongoing discussions aimed at normalizing relations between the two countries were key to achieving long-term peace and stability in the region.
The OSCE Secretary General also touched upon the various cooperative initiatives that have been implemented between Azerbaijan and the OSCE, noting the positive outcomes from these projects.
In his remarks, President Aliyev underscored the necessity of moving beyond the OSCE Minsk Group, which he said had failed to make meaningful progress in resolving the long-standing Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict. The President stressed that the time had come to dismantle the Minsk Group and all related institutions, emphasizing that Armenia should also take responsibility in this regard.
President Aliyev reaffirmed that Azerbaijan had fully restored its territorial integrity through both military and political efforts, securing its sovereignty. He highlighted Azerbaijan's commitment to upholding the principles of international law and the norms set out by the Helsinki Final Act, which are essential for ensuring peace and stability in the South Caucasus.
The meeting concluded with a comprehensive exchange of views on strengthening bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and the OSCE, with both sides expressing their commitment to advancing peace, security, and regional stability.
