The trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day has officially become the most-watched trailer of all time, racking up 718.6 million views in its first 24 hours and surpassing the previous record set by Deadpool & Wolverine in 2024.
The record-breaking teaser, released by Sony Pictures and Marvel on 18 March, follows Peter Parker four years after the events of No Way Home. The footage presents a more mature Spider-Man, living alone and grappling with the consequences of having erased himself from the lives of his loved ones.
The trailer features key cameos and fan-favourite characters, including Michael Mando as Scorpion, Jon Bernthal as the Punisher and Mark Ruffalo reprising his role as the Hulk.
Zendaya returns as MJ, while Stranger Things actress Sadie Sink is confirmed to appear in the fourth film, though her role remains partly shrouded in mystery. Jacob Batalon and Tramell Tillman are also among the cast.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, the film promises a street-level, gritty take on Spider-Man, blending superhero action with personal drama.
Fans were gradually introduced to the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer through a strategic rollout of short, two-second micro-clips shared by prominent members of the global Spider-Man fan community.
These clips appeared on social media across different time zones, creating a staggered worldwide reveal that kept audiences engaged and speculating about the full trailer’s content.
Brazilian actor Wirley Contaifer, who has worked on dubbing international Marvel films, was among those entrusted with sharing a preview clip on Instagram. He described the reaction as overwhelming, with fans immediately asking when and where the full trailer would be released.
According to Tom Holland and the filmmakers, the micro-clip strategy was designed to celebrate fans themselves, giving them a direct role in the global rollout.
Holland, who unveiled the full trailer via an Instagram Live broadcast from the Empire State Building, said the approach was intended as a “thank you” to the Spider-Man community that has supported the character for decades.
Fan Bella Prichard, a cosplay creator, described the rollout as “genius”, noting that it kept audiences guessing and actively engaged, rather than passively consuming the trailer.
By the time the full trailer was released, fans around the world were already invested, sharing theories and speculating about characters, plot developments and hidden cameos.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled for release on 31 July 2026, and early buzz suggests it could challenge the box office record set by Spider-Man: No Way Home, which earned $1.9 billion worldwide.
If it succeeds, it would become one of the highest-grossing releases of the post-COVID era, second only to 2022’s Avatar: The Way of Water.
With a mix of fan-favourite villains, returning characters, and Tom Holland’s more mature Peter Parker navigating his toughest challenges yet, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated films of 2026.
