Grammy-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion was hospitalised in New York City after she fell ill mid-performance during a Broadway production of 'Moulin Rouge! The Musical'.
The star was forced to exit the show on Tuesday evening and was promptly transported to a local hospital.
“During Tuesday night’s production, Megan started feeling very ill and was promptly transported to a local hospital, where her symptoms are currently being evaluated,” her representative told the press.
“We will share additional updates as more information becomes available.”
Megan made her Broadway debut in the production earlier this year, taking on the role of nightclub impresario Harold Zidler, originally portrayed by Tony Award winner Danny Burstein.
Her engagement, initially scheduled for eight weeks at the Al Hirshfeld Theatre, began on 24 March and was due to run until 17 May. It is currently unclear how the show will proceed during her absence.
“Stepping onto the Broadway stage and joining the Moulin Rouge! The Musical team is an absolute honour,” Megan said upon her debut.
Moulin Rouge! The Musical is set to close on 26 July after seven years on Broadway. By that time, the show will have staged 2,265 regular performances and 24 previews, making it the 36th longest-running production in Broadway history.
