The announcement followed a phone call on Sunday night between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. According to Russia’s Foreign Ministry, the call was a "productive exchange of views," focusing primarily on the Ukrainian crisis and the broader diplomatic engagement between the two nations.
