Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that any talks to end the war with Russia must include Ukraine, following concerns over U.S. President Donald Trump’s approach to negotiations.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reaffirmed on Thursday that Ukraine must be directly involved in any negotiations to end the war with Russia.
According to a readout from Trudeau’s office, the leaders emphasised that a sustainable peace in Europe is impossible without security for Ukraine.

Canada has been one of Kyiv’s strongest supporters since the conflict began and is home to one of the world’s largest Ukrainian diasporas outside of Ukraine’s neighbouring countries.
Trudeau reiterated Canada’s continued support for Ukraine and stressed that peace must not come at the cost of Kyiv’s sovereignty.
