Kyrgyzstan’s parliament has ratified a new border agreement with neighboring Tajikistan, resolving a long-standing dispute that has repeatedly fueled conflict between the two Central Asian nations.
During an informal phone conversation on Saturday, the presidents of Russia, Belarus, and Tajikistan—Vladimir Putin, Alexander Lukashenko, and Emomali Rahmon, respectively—gave a call to their Azerbaijani counterpart, Ilham Aliyev, according to the Kremlin.
With signing the Agreement on State Border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, eternal peace has been brought to the Central Asian region, said President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov following the signing of the landmark agreement on the state border.
