U.S. President Donald Trump thanked Azerbaijan and Armenia for upholding last August’s peace deal and said Vice President J.D. Vance will visit both countries in February.

In a post on his Truth Social platform on Saturday (24 January), Trump thanked Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan for maintaining the agreement, describing it as part of what he called a record of conflicts ended under his leadership.

President Trump announced that Vice President J.D. Vance would travel to both countries in February to build on peace efforts and promote what he termed the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity”.

He also said the United States would strengthen its strategic partnership with Azerbaijan and pursue a peaceful nuclear cooperation agreement with Armenia.

Trump added that Washington plans to reach deals benefiting U.S. semiconductor companies and expand sales of U.S.-made defence equipment to Azerbaijan, including body armour and boats.
