Trump: Iran can call the U.S. if it wants talks

U.S. President Donald Trump said he believes the war with Iran will “come to an end very soon” and that the United States will be “victorious,” in comments aired on Fox News. Speaking on The Sunday Briefing, Trump said Iran could reach out to Washington if it wants to negotiate an end to the conflict.

“If Iran wants to talk, they can call us,” Trump said, adding that any discussions would take place by phone. He said some of the Iranian figures the U.S. is dealing with are “very reasonable,” while others are not, and added that he hopes Iran will “be smart.”

Hezbollah says attacks on Israeli troops are a response to ceasefire violations

Hezbollah said its attacks on Israeli troops inside Lebanon and in northern Israel were a “legitimate response” to what it described as Israeli violations of a ceasefire, according to Reuters. The group warned that further violations would be met with resistance and said it would not wait for or rely on what it called “failed diplomacy.”

Araghchi says U.S. military presence destabilises the region in Oman meeting

Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, said the “40‑day war imposed on Iran” showed that the U.S. military presence in the region fuels insecurity and division, during talks with Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, according to a statement published on his official Telegram account, Anadolu reports.  Araghchi said regional countries should pursue a constructive and responsible approach independent of U.S. intervention.

He also praised Oman for supporting dialogue and regional stability amid current tensions. The meeting covered security arrangements for shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, as well as broader security issues in the Persian Gulf and Arabian Sea, and ways to boost regional economic cooperation.

Sirens sound in northern Israel following Hezbollah drone attacks

Sirens sounded across northern Israel after Hezbollah launched three unmanned aerial vehicles from Lebanon, the Israeli military said. The army said alerts were triggered in the western Galilee but claimed all three drones were shot down before entering Israeli airspace.

The incident came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered intensified strikes on Lebanon late on Tuesday, prompting air raids on several southern Lebanese towns. The flare‑up follows weeks of heavy Israeli attacks that have displaced more than 1.16 million people, despite a 10‑day ceasefire that began on April 17 and was later extended by three weeks, according to U.S. President Donald Trump.

Egypt's economy set to dip

"We ​expect energy prices to remain high in the coming quarters, even after the normalisation of flows through ​the Strait of Hormuz. It will fuel inflationary pressure in Egypt", said Pascal Devaux of BNP ⁠Paribas.

Gross domestic product (GDP) growth will be 4.6% in the year to June, 4.6% next year ‌and 5.5% in 2027/28, according to the economists.

"In this context, we expect a slowdown in activity in Egypt, but not a sharp drop", he continued.
