Ukraine's Security Service carried out overnight airstrikes on a Russian military airfield in occupied Crimea, reportedly destroying three helicopters and a key air defense system.
Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) conducted overnight airstrikes on the Kirovskoye military airfield in Russian-occupied Crimea on June 28, targeting key military assets. According to a statement by the SBU, the strikes destroyed three Russian helicopters—Mi-8, Mi-26, and Mi-28—as well as a Pantsir-S1 air defense system.
The operation also struck aviation components, air defense systems, ammunition depots, and areas used to launch reconnaissance and combat drones. The SBU noted that secondary explosions were observed at the site during the night.
The agency emphasized that such actions are part of an ongoing strategy to reduce Russia’s ability to launch air attacks on Ukraine.
