Georgia's former Prosecutor General, Otar Partskhaladze, has taken charge of a volunteer military unit formed to fight for Russia in Ukraine, Russian state news agency TASS has reported.
Partskhaladze, who now lives in Russia, told TASS that the new international military unit was called 'Georgievsky,' in reference to the 1783 Treaty of Georgievsky, which established eastern Georgia as a protectorate of Russia.
In Georgia, Otar Partskhaladze has been charged in absentia with organising a murder and is on an international wanted list.
German police have arrested a 48-year-old man in Gevelsberg, western Germany, suspected of carrying out a series of sabotage attacks on the power grid, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper has reported. A police spokesperson confirmed officers had detained one person in the case, but declined to give further details.

He said the building was partially destroyed by the attack and five people were injured.

The Kremlin's discussions with U.S. negotiators in Moscow over the weekend were based around not incorporating Ukraine into NATO and the recognition of battlefield realities, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said.

Poland’s armed forces have concluded the air operation launched in response to Russia’s overnight strikes on Ukraine, saying no violations of Polish airspace were recorded.

Russian soldiers who go on to commit crimes back home could have part of a one-off payment taken of them, under plans being considered by Moscow's Defence Ministry, amid increasing cases of domestic violence among those fighting in Russia's war on Ukraine.
Russia provides a minimum one-off payment of 400,000 roubles ($4,640) for soldiers signing at least a one-year contract to fight in the war with Ukraine. In practice, pay-outs may reach a few million roubles per soldier, depending on the region, in addition to a monthly salary.
A draft law published on Monday says that the Defence Ministry wants to claim back part of the one-off payments in the event of a criminal offence, “in order to increase the motivation of military personnel to comply with the law.”
Russia does not disclose official statistics on domestic violence committed by its service personnel, but independent media, citing military courts data, reported hundreds of such cases, including murders, since the start of the 2022 invasion.
