Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan hailed Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev as a historic figure for peace, following progress on a draft peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia, during a summit of Turkic states in Budapest.
At the informal summit of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) in Budapest, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan commended Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, saying he will be remembered as the leader who brought peace to the region.
Erdoğan described the recent agreement on the draft peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia as a major step toward long-term stability and reconciliation in the South Caucasus.
