However, this year’s full moon coincides with a rare celestial event that hasn't been seen in almost three years: a total lunar eclipse. As Earth's dark umbral shadow fully envelops the moon from Thursday, March 13 to Friday, March 14, it will take on a dramatic reddish hue, known as a "blood moon," for 65 minutes.

For those in North America, the totality will take place from 2:26 a.m. to 3:31 a.m. EST on Friday, March 14.
