Indonesia and Peru have signed a free trade agreement aimed at boosting bilateral trade, investment, and cooperation in several key sectors, including food, mining, and energy.

The two countries formalised a comprehensive free trade agreement during a signing ceremony in Jakarta on Monday.

The deal is set to enhance trade and investment ties between the two nations by expanding market access and fostering collaboration across various industries.

In 2024, Indonesian exports to Peru reached $331.2 million, with major products including cars, car parts, biodiesel, and footwear. Imports from Peru totaled $149.6 million, primarily cocoa beans and grapes.

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto highlighted that the partnership would strengthen cooperation in sectors such as food, fisheries, mining, energy transition, and defence.

Peruvian President Dina Boluarte emphasized that Peru, a significant exporter of fresh fruit, would gain greater access to the Indonesian market, particularly for blueberries.
