Timothée Chalamet won the Golden Globe for best male actor in a musical or comedy on Sunday for his role in Marty Supreme, beating strong competition in one of the night’s most closely watched categories.

Accepting the award in Beverly Hills, Chalamet thanked fellow nominees including Leonardo DiCaprio and George Clooney, calling the category “stacked.” He noted that past losses at the Globes made this win feel especially meaningful.

DiCaprio had been widely tipped as a contender for his role in 'One Battle After Another', the most-nominated film of the night. His co-star Teyana Taylor earlier won best supporting actress for her performance in the film.

The ceremony also introduced a new podcast award, which went to 'Good Hang with Amy Poehler'. Poehler said the show aimed to bring “a little more love and laughter” to an often harsh world.

In music categories, 'Golden', from Netflix hit 'K-Pop Demon Hunters', won best original song. Accepting the award, singer Ejae said the win proved “it’s never too late to shine.”

Host Nikki Glaser set a playful tone, joking that the Golden Globes were “the most important thing happening in the world right now,” while delivering light-hearted jabs at Hollywood’s biggest stars.

Marty Supreme remains in contention for best musical or comedy, alongside 'One Battle After Another' and 'Bugonia'. In the drama categories, nominees include Jay Kelly, starring George Clooney and Adam Sandler, as well as Frankenstein, Sinners and Hamnet.

The Golden Globes are among the first major awards of the 2026 season, often shaping momentum ahead of the Academy Awards in March. Winners are selected by more than 300 entertainment journalists following reforms to the voting body in recent years.
