On December 4, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Kaja Kallas, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, during the 32nd OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Vienna.
During their discussions, the two sides reviewed the current state and future prospects of Azerbaijan–European Union (EU) cooperation. They both praised the increasing frequency of high-level contacts recently and emphasised the importance of ensuring the continuity and productivity of this dynamic engagement.
The importance of further enhancing efforts and dialogue within the existing frameworks between the two sides was underlined.
The conversation also covered efforts to expand cooperation in areas such as energy security, transport and communications, and trade and economic relations.
Azerbaijan's role in the EU's energy security was highly acknowledged, with particular attention given to projects focused on renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, and electricity exports.
The significance of initiatives aimed at improving and diversifying the region’s transport and communication infrastructure, both through expanding existing routes and creating new ones, was also recognised.
Minister Bayramov provided Kaja Kallas with an update on regional security matters, the post-conflict situation in the South Caucasus, Azerbaijan’s efforts to ensure lasting peace and stability, and the latest developments regarding Azerbaijan’s peace agenda.
They also discussed other bilateral and regional issues of shared interest.
