Milano Cortina 2026 has unveiled the medals for the upcoming 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Designed as two halves, the medals symbolize the journey of both athletes and Para athletes, as well as everyone who has supported them along the way.
The medals were revealed during an event in Venice, the capital of the Veneto region - one of the host regions of the Games, presented by Olympian and Head of the Ambassador Programme for Milano Cortina 2026, Valentina Marchei.
Two legends of sport - Federica Pellegrini, double Olympic medallist and Italy's most successful swimmer, and Francesca Porcellato, who won 15 Paralympic medals after participating in 13 Summer and Winter Games, accompanied the medals by boat on their journey to the grand unveiling.
The pair travelled with the medals from Venice Santa Lucia station to the historic Palazzo Balbi on the Canal Grande, where the reveal event took place.

“Each medal, whether Olympic or Paralympic, is a story etched into metal, it speaks of effort, determination, sacrifice, and the hopes of those who have lived to reach the podium. But it also tells the story of a Country that believes in the most authentic values of sport. Those who win it will carry with them not just the tribute of victory, but a living fragment of the Italian Spirit," said Giovanni Malagò, President of Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026.
Inspired by the Italian avant-garde and developed by the design team of Milano Cortina 2026, the medals of the Games embody “the determination and passion of the world’s greatest athletes, but also Olympic and Paralympic spirit,” explained Raffaella Paniè, Brand, Identity and Look of the Games Director for Milano Cortina 2026.
The medals will be crafted by the Italian State Mint and Polygraphic Institute (IPZS) using recycled metal recovered from its own production waste. They will be cast in induction furnaces powered entirely by renewable energy, with eco-friendly packaging made with FSC-certified materials and minimal use of plastics. Founded in 1928, IPZS is a European leader in secure printing solutions, digital identity, and coin minting.

The medal boxes and medal trays hold great significance, and for Milano Cortina 2026 they will be crafted by Versalis (Eni), Official Supporter of the Games, already involved in the creation of the Olympic and Paralympic Torches.
The President of Regione Veneto, Luca Zaia said that Milano Cortina 2026 would be a great opportunity for the entire country and not just sports and entertainment, but also infrastructure, hospitality, promotion, and employment.
