The 12th meeting of the State Commission on the delimitation of the Azerbaijan–Armenia border, along with the corresponding Armenian commission on border delimitation and security, took place on 28 November in Gabala, Azerbaijan.
The session was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Shahin Mustafayev, and Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia, Mher Grigoryan.
Participants noted with satisfaction that this latest round of talks was being hosted on the territory of one of the sides in the city of Gabala.
Both delegations recalled the agreement reached at the 11th meeting on 16 January 2025 to launch full-scale delimitation work along the northern section of the border, beginning at the tri-point connecting Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia, and proceeding southwards to the Azerbaijan–Armenia border with Iran.
The sides held a detailed discussion on organisational and technical matters related to the delimitation process and reviewed draft guidelines outlining how the work should be carried out.
Mustafayev and Grigoryan also held a separate exchange on issues of mutual interest.
The parties agreed to determine the date of their next meeting in due course, with the session to be held in one of Armenia’s cities.
