Iran's Provisional Leadership Council has been given new constitutional powers by the State Expediency Council to assign or remove military commanders and to declare war or peace, local media reported quoting the Expediency Council's spokesman.
The decision was adopted based on Article 111 of the Constitution to avoid an executive and command vacuum, Expediency Council’s Spokesman Mohsen Dehnavi said on X quoted by Entekhab news website.
Meanwhile, member of Golestan Province in the Leadership Experts Council, Ayatollah Mohsen Taheri said that “In-absentia voting for a new leader is underway and the result will be announced soon.”
“The preferred option of the overwhelming majority of representatives and the prudent nation of Iran is crystal clear, but to comply with the law, we have asked people not to speculate,” reported Aftabnews website citing him.
