Baku Energy Week has opened in Azerbaijan, bringing together global energy leaders to discuss energy security, green energy and regional cooperation, underscoring the country's growing strategic role in Eurasian connectivity.

Speaking to AnewZ's Anastasiya Lavrina on Inside Politics, NE Global's Director of Energy, Climate Policy and Security, Kostis Geropoulos, said the South Caucasus is attracting increased international attention because of shifting geopolitical realities, the energy transition and the growing importance of critical minerals.
He described the Middle Corridor as a major strategic route linking Asia and Europe, noting that “the transport through this region is becoming increasingly important.”
Geropoulos added that the U.S. is paying closer attention to the region amid these developments, including renewable energy and critical mineral supply chains, and said Washington “wants to also play a key role” while viewing Azerbaijan as a strategic partner.
He noted that energy cooperation has long been a pillar of bilateral relations and said Azerbaijan's strategic importance has increased amid evolving global energy and transport dynamics.
