Four people were killed on Sunday evening in an Israeli drone strike targeting a vehicle in eastern Lebanon near the Lebanese-Syrian border, Lebanon’s official National News Agency (NNA) reported.
According to the agency, an Israeli drone struck a car between the al-Masnaa border crossing and the village of Jdeidet Yabous in the town of Majdal Anjar, resulting in four fatalities and an unspecified number of injuries.
Residents in nearby villages reported hearing four strong explosions, the agency added.
The Israeli military said in a statement that it had carried out a strike against members of the Islamic Jihad Movement in the Majdal Anjar area.
There was no immediate comment from the group.
The incident comes amid what Lebanese authorities describe as repeated Israeli violations of a ceasefire agreement reached in November 2024.
Israel continues to hold five Lebanese hilltops seized during the latest war that began in October 2023, in addition to other areas it has occupied for decades.
The conflict has killed more than 4,000 people in Lebanon and wounded around 17,000, according to Lebanese figures.
