Turkmenistan’s freight transit is on the rise, with over 2 million tons moved in just four months — a 20% surge from last year.
In the first four months of 2025, transit cargo traffic through Turkmenistan surpassed 2 million tons, marking a 20% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This growth reflects the country’s ongoing efforts to modernize its transport and logistics infrastructure. Upgrades at customs checkpoints, improved technical capacities, and the adoption of advanced information systems have helped accelerate cargo processing.
Road transit saw a sharp 25% rise, while rail transit increased by 6%, highlighting the effectiveness of these initiatives. These improvements are part of Turkmenistan’s broader strategy to become a key transit hub in the region’s logistics network.
