Uzbekistan, led by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, is expediting WTO accession, aiming to finalize talks with nine countries by late 2025.The country has already held four Working Group meetings since 2023, addressing over 500 sector-specific issues and finalizing agreements with 24 out of 33 negotiating countries.
Uzbekistan has reformed its laws and revoked six state enterprises' exclusive rights to align with WTO standards and promote competition. President Mirziyoyev has emphasized the urgency of adopting additional regulatory acts in areas such as food safety, technical regulations, and sanitary standards, along with strengthening human resource capacity.
