President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by Mazen Torki Saud Al-Qadi, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Jordan, on 21 June.
During the meeting, President Aliyev said relations between Azerbaijan and Jordan are based on friendship and brotherhood, noting that the two countries have consistently supported each other.
He expressed confidence that cooperation would continue to expand in political, economic, humanitarian, interparliamentary and other areas.

President Aliyev also highlighted Al-Qadi’s participation in the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States, to be held in Baku. He said the visit would contribute to the development of bilateral relations and create an opportunity to discuss cooperation between the two countries’ legislative bodies.
Al-Qadi conveyed greetings from King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of Jordan to President Ilham Aliyev.
The Azerbaijani president thanked him for the greetings and asked him to convey his own greetings to the Jordanian monarch. President Aliyev also invited King Abdullah II to visit Azerbaijan.
Al-Qadi thanked President Aliyev for the reception and hospitality, describing them as a sign of the friendship and brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Jordan.

He said relations between the two countries were developing successfully thanks to the political will of President Aliyev and King Abdullah II.
The speaker praised Azerbaijan’s development, saying the country had become beautiful and safe as a result of President Aliyev’s “visionary and wise” policy. He also said the strong unity between the people and the government reflected the country’s commitment to social justice.
Al-Qadi noted that Azerbaijan has always paid close attention to cooperation within the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and to issues concerning the Arab and Islamic world. He said Azerbaijan’s clear and fair position on Palestine was highly appreciated.
He also congratulated Azerbaijan on restoring its territorial integrity and sovereignty, and noted the large-scale reconstruction and development work being carried out in Garabagh and East Zangezur under President Aliyev’s leadership.
Al-Qadi said the beauty and cleanliness of Baku had left a strong impression on him.
President Aliyev thanked him for his remarks and said Jordan was also developing successfully under the leadership of King Abdullah II.
The Azerbaijani president reiterated that Azerbaijan has consistently supported Islamic solidarity. He also said Azerbaijan supports a two-state solution to the Palestinian issue, with East Jerusalem as the capital.
