Construction of New International Airport in Kyrgyzstan's Jalal-Abad Region to Begin in 2025
The China State Construction Engineering Corporation will spearhead the construction of a new international airport in Kyrgyzstan's Jalal-Abad region.
An agreement formalizing the project was signed by Tilek Tekebaev, the Presidential Plenipotentiary Representative in Jalal-Abad Region, and Liu Dong, General Director of the China State Construction Engineering Corporation.
Scheduled to commence in January 2025, the project will utilize 360 hectares of land in the towns of Suzak and Jalal-Abad. The initiative aims to enhance air connectivity in the region, facilitating both domestic and international travel.
“This major project will significantly improve air routes in Jalal-Abad, fostering growth in the region,” said Tekebaev. He further highlighted the role of Kyrgyz-China cooperation in strengthening economic ties between the two nations.
Kyrgyzstan currently operates 11 airports, including five international facilities: "Manas," "Osh," "Issyk-Kul," "Karakol," and "Batken." The remaining six serve domestic routes and include the existing "Jalal-Abad" airport. The new airport is expected to bolster infrastructure and meet growing aviation demands in the region.
