YouTube star Jimmy Donaldson, known as MrBeast, visited Tashkent on 9 October for a fan event organised by Uzbekistan’s Art and Culture Development Foundation. The visit marked his first trip to Central Asia.
MrBeast, whose main YouTube channel more than 520 million subscribers, arrived in Uzbekistan to take part in an event featuring interactive games, quizzes and prizes.
Fans were selected through a random draw from eligible registrations, with participation limited to people aged over 18.
A public fan zone opened near Tashkent’s Centre for Contemporary Arts. MrBeast later shared footage of the crowds on Instagram, saying he had not realised how many people in Uzbekistan watched his videos.
During filming in Tashkent, MrBeast gave away 300 million soums to three participants who completed his challenges. Each winner received 100 million soums (around $8,000). Donaldson’s production team had reportedly planned to visit other Uzbek cities, including Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva.
The visit also drew attention to a red Lamborghini brought by MrBeast’s production team. Photos circulated on social media showing scratches and apparent damage to the car.
Law enforcement officials said the YouTuber had not been involved in a road accident in Tashkent and that the vehicle was accompanied during his trip. MrBeast later said the Lamborghini had been damaged in Delhi, India, rather than in Uzbekistan.
The visit was organised by the Art and Culture Development Foundation in cooperation with Uzbekistan’s Tourism Committee. Organisers see the event as an opportunity to promote local creators and showcase Uzbekistan to MrBeast’s large international audience.
