A unique architectural monument dating back to the 9th to 12th centuries has been discovered in the village of Gargara, in the Korez village commune in Dangara district in Tajikistan.
The discovery was made by specialists from the Agency for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Heritage under the Government of Tajikistan during research aimed at identifying, studying and assessing the condition of the country’s historical and ancient monuments.
According to the agency, the newly discovered site has significant scientific and historical value. Specialists are currently carrying out research to study the monument in greater detail.
The findings will be compiled into a scientific and analytical report, which will be presented after the research is completed.
The discovery could provide valuable information for researchers studying the history, architecture and cultural development of the region during the 9th-12th centuries.
The agency said work in this area is continuing. More detailed information about the monument and the results of the research will be made public once the studies are complete.
In June, Tajikistan announced the launch of an official website for a special section of the State Register of Historical and Cultural Monuments. The new digital resource includes seven main areas including tangible and intangible cultural heritage, archaeological finds, categories of monuments, and an electronic library.
