China Railway Container Transport Corp. Ltd. has joined 'Middle Corridor Multimodal Ltd.' joint venture, established by railway operators of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Kazakhstan to enhance efficiency, reliability, and seamless functioning of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.

Bypassing Russia, this major east–west logistics project connects China to Europe through Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey.

'Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC' (Kazakhstan Railways) announced that the decision to include China Railway’s multimodal transport operations company in its joint venture was recently approved during an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting.

Talgat Aldybergenov, Chairman of the Management Board of 'Kazakhstan Temir Zholy', recently visited Azerbaijan, where he met with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Digital Development and Transport, Rashad Nabiyev. He also took part in the extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders of the joint venture Middle Corridor Multimodal Ltd.

Adviser to the Kazakhstan's President Assel Zhanasova and Chairman of the Committee for Railway and Water Transport Zhanibek Taizhanov, heads of «Azerbaijan Railways» CJSC, JSC Georgian Railway took part in the meeting with Rashad Nabiyev.

The discussions focused on the development of the Middle Corridor, digitalization of logistics processes, implementation of the Roadmap for eliminating bottlenecks, and other key areas of cooperation.

The parties agreed to implement joint monitoring of container train transit times along the route. This measure is expected to improve schedule reliability, address logistical challenges more efficiently, and enhance the overall performance of the corridor.

The Middle Corridor now offers significant competitive advantages—particularly in speed and reliability. Currently, cargo shipments from China to Europe via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route take just 15–18 days, making the route nearly twice as fast as traditional sea transport.
