U.S. President Donald Trump has said a memorandum of understanding with Iran has been largely agreed, with final details now being finalised ahead of an announcement expected shortly.

Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump said he had held a call with several regional and international leaders to discuss the proposed agreement.

Those involved included Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Minister Ali al-Thawadi.

Leaders from Pakistan, Türkiye, Egypt, Jordan and Bahrain also took part in the talks, including Pakistan’s Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Türkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Trump said the discussions focused on “all things related to a Memorandum of Understanding pertaining to peace” involving Iran.

He added that the agreement had been broadly negotiated between the United States, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the other countries involved, though some elements remain under discussion.

Trump also said he had held a separate call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which he described as having gone “very well”.

“The final aspects and details of the deal are currently being discussed and will be announced shortly,” Trump said.

He added that, alongside other elements of the agreement, the Strait of Hormuz would be opened.
