Sudan RSF detains dozens of medical and academic professionals

The Sudan Doctors Network said Wednesday that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) had detained “dozens” of medical and academic professionals in the western Sudanese city of al-Geneina. In a statement on X, the network expressed its “deep concern regarding reports that the RSF continues to detain dozens of professionals in the city of al-Geneina, West Darfur State.” The situation raises “serious fears for their safety and humanitarian well-being,” it added. Meanwhile, the United Nations warned on 4 November that intensifying drone strikes on Sudan's power and fuel facilities were disrupting hospital care, cutting water supplies and worsening fuel shortages.
