US President Donald Trump said his recent phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu went “very well” and included discussions on the ongoing nuclear negotiations with Iran.
Speaking to reporters at the White House after returning from Camp David, Trump described the conversation as “very smooth,” noting that Iran was a key focus.
“We discussed a lot of things, and it went very well,” he said. “You know, we're trying to do something with a country we just spoke about — Iran.”
Trump acknowledged the challenges of negotiating with Tehran, calling Iranian officials “tough” and “good negotiators,” but warned that “sometimes they can be too tough.”
“We're trying to make a deal so that there's no destruction and death. And we've told them that, and I've told them that. I hope that's the way it works out — but it might not. We'll soon find out,” he added.
