Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has been named Premier League Player of the Season after a record-breaking year in which he led his team to the title and set new standards for goal contributions.
Mohamed Salah was named Premier League Player of the Season on Saturday (May 24) after an outstanding individual performance that helped lead Liverpool to their second league title.
The Egyptian forward scored 28 goals and registered 18 assists as Arne Slot’s team secured the championship with four matches remaining. This marks Salah’s second time receiving the honor, having first won it in 2017–18, making him only the fifth player to earn the award twice—joining Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, Nemanja Vidić, and Kevin De Bruyne.
At 32, Salah is also on track to claim another Golden Boot, currently leading the scoring chart by five goals ahead of Newcastle’s Alexander Isak. His 46 goal contributions are a record for a 38-game Premier League season, and he has a chance to surpass the all-time high of 47, set by Alan Shearer and Andy Cole in a 42-game format.
With six more assists than any other player, Salah is poised to become the first footballer ever to win the Golden Boot, Golden Playmaker, and Player of the Season awards in the same year. Earlier this month, he also earned the Football Writers’ Association Men’s Player of the Year award for a third time.
