U.S. President Donald Trump said Russia and Ukraine will “immediately” begin negotiations to reach a ceasefire and end the war.
Trump also spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who called this moment “defining” and stressed that the US and European allies must stay actively involved in the talks.
Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Russia and Ukraine are jointly drafting a peace memorandum, noting that “the devil is in the details” and the text will be carefully worked out by both sides. He added that the US remains fully engaged as an effective mediator in the process.
Peskov also said the Kremlin is aware of the Vatican’s offer to host talks between Russia and Ukraine but stressed that no decision has been made yet on holding negotiations there.
