The United States, Armenia and Azerbaijan have marked the first anniversary of the White House peace summit, highlighting progress towards normalising relations and boosting regional cooperation in the South Caucasus.
The statement, released by the U.S. State Department, said the August 2025 summit hosted by President Donald Trump “ended decades of conflict” and placed the region on a path toward a more prosperous future.
The summit brought together Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who signed a joint declaration for peace. The draft “Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Inter-State Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan” was later initialled by the two countries’ foreign ministers.
The three countries said Armenia and Azerbaijan have maintained stability along their shared border and taken further steps towards normalising relations, including border delimitation and confidence-building measures.
The statement also highlighted progress on the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), a planned transit corridor designed to connect regional trade routes. Engineering surveys are under way in Armenia, while Azerbaijan has advanced highway and railway construction on its territory, according to the statement.
The countries also said they support the development of an electricity transmission line along the route.
Washington said it had provided $201 million to the Trans-Caspian Enterprise Fund to support private-sector investment in the Middle Corridor, which links Central Asia and the South Caucasus.
The statement also pointed to new U.S. partnerships with Armenia and Azerbaijan covering areas including energy security, border infrastructure, artificial intelligence, semiconductor innovation and critical minerals.
According to the statement, Azerbaijan lifted transit restrictions related to Armenia, allowing nearly 60,000 tonnes of goods to be transported to and from Armenia through Azerbaijani territory over the past year. It also said Azerbaijan supplied 20,000 tonnes of oil products to Armenia.
The two countries also signed an agreement between telecom operators aimed at improving regional internet connectivity and strengthening digital infrastructure.
The statement said the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group and related structures reflected the changing regional environment and what it described as the end of the era of unresolved conflict.
The U.S., Armenia and Azerbaijan reaffirmed support for each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within internationally recognised borders and said they remained committed to implementing the August 2025 Joint Declaration.
The statement said further efforts were needed to secure peace, saying: “True peace is never achieved in just one day,” while describing Armenia and Azerbaijan’s steps toward a lasting peace as a model for the world.
