Germany's Defence Minister Boris Pistorius reassured Ukraine of continued support, emphasizing NATO solidarity and announcing the delivery of advanced howitzers to aid Ukraine's defense against Russia.

Germany’s Defence Minister Boris Pistorius visited Ukraine on Tuesday to reassure Kiev of unwavering support in its fight against the Russian invasion that began nearly three years ago.
"It is important for me to show with this trip that we continue to actively support Ukraine.

This is a signal that Germany, as the largest NATO country in Europe, stands by Ukraine's side," Pistorius was quoted as saying by German dpa news agency in Kyiv.

Before his visit to Kiev, Pistorius had talks in Warsaw with defence ministers from Poland, France, the United Kingdom and Italy, where Europe’s support for Ukraine was one of key issues at the agenda of so-called the "European Five" (E5) meeting on Monday.

On that day, Pistorius also attended a handover ceremony the city of Kassel, where he handed over a dozen of brand-new wheeled howitzers to Ukraine’s Ambassador to Germany. In total, Germany will provide 54 remote-controlled wheeled howitzer systems, with the initial six units scheduled for delivery in 2025.

According to media reports, Ukraine is the first country to receive the new RCH 155 produced by tank manufacturer KNDS. The RCH 155 system matches the PzH 2000's firepower while offering superior mobility and operational range, making it a challenging target for enemy forces.
