Russia’s Defence Ministry announced on Saturday that its troops had captured two more settlements along the 1,000-km front line in Donetsk region, following the Friday announcement of three other villages taken in its gradual advance.

Ukraine's military did not acknowledge that any of the villages had changed hands. But it said its forces had recaptured from Russian troops a settlement further west on the edge of Dnipropetrovsk region.

The captured villages were identified as Kleban-Byk, northwest of Toretsk, and Seredne near the Kharkiv border.

The General Staff of Ukraine's military said only that Katerynivka was one of several localities that came under enemy attack.

Ukraine's HUR military spy agency highlighted joint operations aimed at halting Russian progress in Donetsk and preventing breakthroughs into Dnipropetrovsk.
