David hat-trick powers Canada to 6-0 win over Qatar

Jonathan David scored a hat-trick as Canada produced a statement 6-0 victory over Qatar in Vancouver to secure their first FIFA World Cup win as co-hosts.

The breakthrough came early as Cyle Larin reacted quickest to a rebound to open the scoring before David unleashed a thunderous volley to double the lead at BC Place.

Qatar’s hopes collapsed after a first-half red card left them a man down, and they were reduced to nine players after the break following a second dismissal.

Canada punished the visitors relentlessly, with Nathan Saliba scoring from a free-kick, an own goal adding to the damage, and David completing his hat-trick late on to seal a landmark night.
