Wizz Air has suspended all flights to and from Tel Aviv, Israel, and its European services to Amman, Jordan, effective immediately until 15 September due to escalating situation in the Middle East. Also, the air carrier temporarily suspended its flights between Astana, Kazakhstan, and Abu Dhabi.
In addition to the flight suspensions, the airline has announced it will avoid flying over Israeli, Iraqi, Iranian, and Syrian airspace until further notice.
“The safety and security of our passengers, crew, and aircraft is our top priority,” Wizz Air said in a statement. The airline added that it is closely monitoring developments in coordination with aviation and security authorities.
According to the communiqué of Astana International Airport, the final direct flight from Astana to Abu Dhabi is scheduled to depart on 19 June at 15:45 local time.
Passengers holding return tickets from Abu Dhabi will be rebooked via Almaty. Those who choose not to accept the alternative travel arrangement may request a full refund by contacting the airline's customer service. A timeline for the resumption of direct flight operations has not yet been announced.
