Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has announced reshuffles in Georgia’s economic leadership, unveiling new appointments.
Mariam Kvrivishvili, former Deputy Minister, has been appointed Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, succeeding Levan Davitashvili, who will become the Prime Minister’s chief economic advisor and secretary of the Economic Council.
"Mariam is a member of the ruling party’s Political Council and has served as Deputy Minister of Economy, where she successfully led key sectors such as tourism and aviation. Today, her responsibilities are expanding, and I am confident she will perform just as effectively in her new role. I wish her continued success,” Kobakhidze said.
She expressed gratitude for the Prime Minister’s confidence: “It is a great honour to serve our country’s economic welfare and growth as Economy Minister. With seven years of experience in various roles at the Ministry, I am confident that, together with my team, we will successfully complete ongoing projects and set new goals for economic growth. I also wish to sincerely thank Levan Davitashvili for the fruitful years we shared and wish him success in his future endeavours.”
Mariam Kvrivishvili has been a member of the ruling party’s Political Council and previously served as head of the National Tourism Administration from 2019 to 2020. Since May 24, 2021, she has been Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
Former Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili will assume the posts of the Prime Minister’s chief advisor on economic issues and secretary of the Economic Council.
"Economic development remains our top priority, vital for improving living standards and strengthening Georgia’s institutions. This restructuring will support even greater momentum in Georgia’s economic progress and investment climate. To enhance economic policy, we are strengthening the Economic Council, with Levan Davitashvili appointed as Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister and Secretary of the Council. This will allow him to focus on boosting growth, attracting investment, and advancing Georgia’s development," - the Prime Minister stated.
Levan Davitashvili has been serving as Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development since February 9, 2022. Also, he held the position of Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, beginning his tenure on July 12, 2021.
