At the 10th Annual Global Conference on Energy Efficiency held in Brussels by the International Energy Agency (IEA), Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov underscored his country’s commitment to sustainability. Highlighting energy efficiency and renewables as strategic pillars for Azerbaijan’s socio-economic growth, Shahbazov pointed to the “green energy zone” initiative in Karabakh and East Zangezur. He outlined a plan to build 90 renewable energy stations by 2030, aimed at saving 1 billion cubic meters of gas and cutting 2 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions annually.

The minister also shared Azerbaijan’s ambition to become a major green energy hub for Europe by developing interconnectors linking the Caspian region to Europe via Türkiye. The conference concluded with a Joint Statement emphasizing energy efficiency’s role in global energy transition.
