President Ilham Aliyev receives Prime Minister of Belarus in Baku

President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva inaugurated the renovated Central Botanical Garden in Baku, now expanded to 45 hectares with modern facilities, greenhouses, and attractions, reflecting Azerbaijan’s commitment to biodiversity and environmental preservation.

Eldar Azizov, Head of Baku City Executive Authority, provided an overview of the improvements.
The garden, expanded from 39 to 45 hectares, now features modern facilities, including a new entrance complex, updated greenhouses, a fountain, and a 650-metre pedestrian bridge with lifts.
Rare ornamental plants were introduced, and existing structures were restored, including the historical entrance. Infrastructure upgrades include improved lighting, irrigation, fire safety systems, and pedestrian pathways.
The garden offers new attractions such as a greenhouse complex, a lake, an observation deck, two restaurants, a children’s play area, and a maze garden. Administrative buildings were rebuilt or restored to modern standards.
Originally established in 1934 to preserve Azerbaijan’s plant biodiversity, the Central Botanical Garden is a hub for conservation, research, and education. The restoration reflects Azerbaijan’s dedication to environmental sustainability and biodiversity protection.
