Moscow values its strong ties with Baku, built on trust and collaboration, focusing on economic projects, security, and international cooperation, said Russian FM Sergey Lavrov.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expressed Moscow's satisfaction with the development of its relations with Baku during a press conference reviewing Russian diplomacy in 2024, according to TASS.
"As regards the Russia-Azerbaijan relations, they are highly appreciated. It is a trusting relationship, with the [two] presidents maintaining regular communication, and there are no closed topics," Lavrov said.
Lavrov stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev have been fostering collaboration between their governments to explore new mutually beneficial initiatives. These include the North-South Transport Corridor, other Caucasian routes, and efforts to address the issue of the Caspian Sea's shallowing, he explained.
"Naturally, we cooperate in the international arena, too. There have been contacts and practical steps are being taken to strengthen our capabilities in security, and the fight against terrorism and organized crime. And, of course, there is communication between [the two countries’] armed forces and special services," he concluded.
