Entry and exit across the state border between Azerbaijan and Iran for all types of cargo vehicles, including those in transit, will resume on 9 March, according to a statement by the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan.

Earlier, under Decision No. 66 adopted on 5 March, the Cabinet of Ministers temporarily halted the movement of cargo vehicles across the Azerbaijan–Iran border.

On 5 March, a drone attack took place at Nakhchivan International Airport. The drone, which flew from Iranian territory, crashed into the airport building and exploded near a secondary school in Shekerabad village in Babek district.

Four people were injured in the airport strike: three staff members on duty and one passenger waiting to board a plane. They were taken to hospital for treatment and observation.

On 8 March, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian phoned his Azerbaijani counterpart, Ilham Aliyev, saying that Iran had not been involved in the Nakhchivan incident and that Tehran was investigating the matter.

The Azerbaijani president underlined the importance of investigating the incident that occurred in Nakhchivan.
