Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis hosted a meeting with members of the majority staff of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs, Azertag reported, on 31 January.

During the meeting, Samad Seyidov, chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee on International Relations and Interparliamentary Affairs and head of the Azerbaijan–U.S. interparliamentary working group, outlined the history of bilateral relations, existing areas of cooperation and prospects for future development.

Referring to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s working visit to the U.S. in August last year, Seyidov said agreements reached during the trip had elevated relations between the two countries to a qualitatively new level.

He added that the agreements had also contributed to the Azerbaijan–Armenia peace process and to regional stability and cooperation.

The meeting highlighted the importance of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity initiative, known as TRIPP.

Participants said its implementation, supported by the U.S., could reshape Eurasia’s transport links and deepen cooperation across the wider region.

Discussions also focused on the possible repeal of Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act as it applies to Azerbaijan, noting that such a move would support the development of bilateral relations, strengthen mutual trust and expand cooperation.

Members of the U.S. congressional staff welcomed what they described as positive recent dynamics in U.S.–Azerbaijan relations, saying ties had entered a new phase and that maintaining this momentum would be in the interests of both countries.
