Premium AI-95 gasoline produced in Azerbaijan will soon be available for sale in Armenia at a significantly lower price compared to local market rates.
According to Karen Hayririan, head of Mega Trade the fuel will be sold at 440 drams per litre, which equates to approximately $1.10, making the price point is notably cheaper than the current market price of around 520 drams per litre, or $1.30.
Mega Trade is one of the Armenian buyers of Azerbaijani oil which was shipped to Armenia for the first time in decades just last week.
Hayririan mentioed that the company has purchased about 600 tonnes of fuel for distribution. In total, 1,220 tonnes of AI-95 gasoline have been shipped from Azerbaijan to Armenia via Georgia.
The shipment, which consists of 22 rail tank cars, was produced at the Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery in Baku, a key production facility for Azerbaijan’s fuel exports.
The Azerbaijani gasoline will be distributed through the Ran Oil network of filling stations across Armenia, giving local consumers access to high-quality fuel at more affordable prices.
This move marks a significant step in the growing trade relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, particularly in the energy sector, and could potentially help stabilise fuel prices in Armenia, where gas costs have been fluctuating.
The sale of Azerbaijani fuel also strengthens the position of Azerbaijan as an important regional supplier of energy resources.
As fuel prices continue to rise globally, this initiative offers a much-needed relief for consumers in Armenia, while also demonstrating the economic cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.
