Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will visit Azerbaijan on Thursday and Friday to mark the fifth anniversary of Victory Day and strengthen bilateral ties.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will travel to Baku on Thursday for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, according to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The visit coincides with the fifth anniversary of Azerbaijan’s Victory Day, commemorating its military success in the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
During the trip, Prime Minister Sharif is expected to participate in official ceremonies and meet President Aliyev to discuss bilateral relations and regional cooperation.
“The entire spectrum of bilateral relations will be reviewed, and new directions will be identified to deepen cooperation,” the Foreign Ministry said, noting sectors including trade, energy, defence, education, and regional connectivity.
Pakistan and Azerbaijan maintain what officials describe as “brotherly relations,” underpinned by shared faith, cultural ties, and consistent support on international platforms such as the OIC, ECO, and the UN.
The visit is also intended to reaffirm Pakistan’s support for Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and to advance their strategic partnership, the statement added.
