Syria on Saturday welcomed the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) decision to restore its membership following the fall of the Bashar Assad regime.
In a statement, the Syrian Foreign Ministry called the decision "a vital step toward Syria’s reintegration into regional and international communities as a free and just state."
The statement also reaffirmed Syria’s commitment to the OIC’s principles, including cooperation, justice, and dignity.
The ministry expressed its readiness to 'work hand in hand with our brothers in the Islamic world to rebuild Syria and strengthen our region based on shared values of justice, peace, and cooperation.'
Syria also reaffirmed its aspiration to 'build a future where the Syrian people regain their rightful place among nations, contributing to a stronger and more unified Islamic world.'
On Friday, Syria officially regained its membership in the OIC after a 13-year suspension.
