More than 1,000 aid packages have been airdropped over the Gaza Strip since the resumption of the international airdrop operation on 26 July, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Friday.

Nine countries have participated in the effort, which aims to alleviate shortages caused by the ongoing blockade.

On Friday alone, six nations delivered 72 food packages, with the Netherlands joining the mission for the first time. Other countries taking part included the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Germany, Belgium, and France.

The airdrops resumed after the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza drew widespread condemnation. However, United Nations officials and humanitarian experts have stressed that the impact will remain minimal unless Israel opens land crossings to facilitate larger aid deliveries and grants access for medical treatment to malnourished civilians.
