Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy, Mikayil Jabbarov, spoke to journalists at the ceremony marking the launch of natural gas transit from Azerbaijan to Syria via Türkiye.
He highlighted that Azerbaijan now supplies gas to 14 countries, positioning the nation as a key energy supplier both regionally and globally.
Jabbarov emphasised that the project’s success was only possible thanks to international cooperation and Azerbaijan’s strong reputation. The minister added that Azerbaijan is competitively supplying gas not only to Western markets but also to southern and eastern regions, with plans to continue expanding in these directions.
He also noted that the gas supplied to Syria comes directly from the state-owned company SOCAR, underscoring the growing demand for Azerbaijani gas in the Middle East. Jabbarov expressed gratitude to Turkey for facilitating transit and confirmed plans to further broaden SOCAR’s presence in the region.
